" Sounds excellent on vocals giving warmth and depth producing a polished quality sound. I found overdrive not so good as a preamp for an electric guitar going straight to the desk. Gives bass guitar a nice warmth with a little sponginess, which is for attacking playing styles and funk. "

" Great DI, very solid construction and road ready. I have several of these in my live sound rig and they have been ultra reliable and user friendly. The inbuilt pad is very handy when using the DI on keyboards and active basses where the signal is very hot. The earth lift is also useful when the mains supply for the stage is different to the supply to the PA, and there may be earth loops. Recommended. "

" It does what it says on the tin! This is a very useful gadget for transferring out-of-print vinyl to CDR in a painless manner. I'm on a Mac mini and use this with Sound Studio &/or Amadeus, along with Click Repair, and the results are excellent. Setup was very simple too.
One point to bear in mind - it sounded like I was getting some bad surface noise on early attempts, but it turned out to be some sort of digital/electrical interference. A too-close USB hub turned out to be the cause, so keeping this preamp away from similar gadgets should solve any similar problem. Once that issue was fixed, the sound has been as good as I'd hoped. " Possibly the best purchase possible for a studio. This saves collecting amps, effects and mics and easily thousands of dollars and hundreds of setup hours to pull extraordinary sounds. The only drag has been Protools which is needed to backup patches. Protools firmware updates have failed after paying a hundred bucks for new amp and cab setups they won't install. And you have to un-install Internet Explorer 9.0! a major programming faux par. Still the 11 Rack is dead easy to program manually, so don't buy another amp, get this thing!! Awesome. "

" Last week I bought a BBE 362 Sonic Maximizer from you guys. I have had one before and used it through my JCM 900 Marshall Head. I have had one about 7 years ago but sold it. It was the one of the stupidest things I have ever done. This device gives you the tone and control that is second to none. Easy to use no fuss operation tightens cords up if that’s what you wish for it to do. Nothing one the market compares to BBE technology. I recommend it for guitarist as an essential part of any guitar set up.

" I plugged it in and switched it on and this thing does not seem to do really much of anything for my distorted channel at all. I am running a Randall 100 watt head and cab and using a JS100 Ibanez and although it does alter something of my tone for the better i don't see it as worth the money. But I guess every little bit helps in the quest for sweet tone. I play metal and this didn't do a great deal for the distortion but for clean it sounds alot warmer and fuller. I recommend more for clean sounds, but hey am still glad i bought it as it did help my clean alot and gave more clarity to my distortion. "

" The BOSS RC-2 Loop Station is a great little box. Featuring in-built drum patterns, it would come in useful for jamming to yourself, or for capturing chord progressions and spontaneous musical ideas, whether at a gig or at home. Create complex, layered sound and then alter the tempo for experimentation. Or record a complete backing track into the pedal from an iPod or standard CD player, and then jam to it. I found it also improves timing and is a terrific tool for songwriting ideas.
On a side note, the user controls are not entirely intuitive, although the manual comes in handy there. Battery life is not long either - you'll need to get a BOSS PSA-120 9V AC adaptor. Overall, a versatile box to include in your setup.

" I bought four of these as the frontline vocal mics for my sound reinforcement system, used for bands from heavy rock to country and everything in between. These mics replaced some aging Shure SM58s, so they had big shoes to fill. The response from my customers has been universally excellent. They sound and feel great, are rugged enough for constant use and are a quarter of the price of the mics they replaced.
One little wish, is that they had a lockout for the switch, or a non switched version, switches can be a problem when you're at a desk 50 metres or more from the performer.
Apart from that I'm stoked. "

" This mike feels solid and durable and comes in a pretty rugged (tho plastic) case. The shockmount is likewise of high quality. It has been used so far as a recording mike into a phonic helix firewire board - the sound is noise free and warm when compared to the SM58 I've used up till now. Having the filter and dB cut on the mike is a bonus. Only complaint is that the XLR input is a little too "precise" and snug if you are using cheaper XLR leads (tho more expensive leads have worked fine). "

Product Reviews for Carl Martin |
|
| |
|
|
| |
" YOU WANT THE BEST YOU GOT THE BEST, that’s what I would say to you if you asked me how does the Carl Martin bass chorus perform!
The Carl Martin comes with two selectable channels so you can pre-set two different types of chorus effect. I found this useful when doing slides up and down the octave because if you set the speed dial just right you can have a wicked sound mesh between the two channels.
Unlike other chorus pedals the Carl Martin is designed to handle the low end and since I play 5 string basses this was incredibly important to me.
The tone is clear crisp and full it will definitely give you a distinct sound to your playing!
The casing is hard and the knobs and buttons are all very sturdy which is always a concern when buying a pedal that is going to be stomped on repeatedly.
My only small gripe about the Carl martin is the fact it has an inbuilt power supply. You’re probably thinking to yourself why am I worried about this?
My reason is that when your daisy chaining with many pedals the power chord gets in the way but I am sure with careful pedal board placement this will not be as much of an issue.
The Carl Martin is a very expensive pedal BUT any serious bass player will benefit greatly from the fantastic chorus effect it produces which easily dictates the price tag.
My recommendation: Get one of these bad boys and rock out!

|

" I found the CrushZone really shines when it comes to smooth, warm, rhythm distortion. With the tone set at halfway and the distortion amount set to 1/4, my immediate impression was that of definition and well rounded tone. Separation between notes is quite reasonable and they don't bleed into each other, rather the notes all compliment. With the distortion set at the halfway mark, it becomes quite heavy, and is better suited to lead/solo lines. That said, when setting the distortion amount any higher than halfway, there is little difference to be had, except the tone tends to become a little fuzzier and lack clarity.
Pedal construction quality is very good and user operation couldn't be easier. Overall a solid pedal for rhythm and accompaniment, not as effective for lead (in my case anyway) however I am using humbucking pickups. It may deliver a sweeter tone for single coils. "
Dan Delany, Adelaide. 2007-07-11

|
| |
|
|
| |
" The boost is massive! Therefore so much can be done with this pedal. However the options this pedal gives, shouldn't be judged from the just its extra "kick" alone. The "Wave" knob has such a simple yet extensive contour to let you zero in on that tone/texture you want, coupled with the "Gain" ranging from subtle blues/rock to a great hard/heavy - but not too overwhelming - distorted sonic wall.
I mean have you ever just wanted a pedal that can turn your amp almost inside out without the bells and whistles? That you can just rely on for headroom, great rock tone and user friendliness? This is it.
The options are true meat and potatoes, no little switches, or extra "little knobs" to distract you. Distortion/Od is way extensive - not one for ultra high-gain metal fans however it depends what you're pushing it through, and with and what volume - but if you're looking for the true essence of what a great live rock rig requires, through a standard tube amp at least - this pedal is highly recommended. The boost and OD work seperately or together depending on how you want to use it, so you can also compare it to like adding two extra channels/stages to your exhisting amps own sound, plus its other features are also such a benefit for those who require an extra "clean out" whether it be for a tuner , extra amp/line out for a blend (handy for fusing sounds for the studio, bound to be more ideas from different users for this one!)as well as the hard-wired power supply which deems batteries and delicate converters obselete. Also this must have to contribute to how quiet this pedal is while also getting the maximum benefit of the 240v towards its power and performance.
It truly is something i have been looking for for a long time, its construction is chunky and solid, and has really transformed my sound for the better. I bought this pedal because it was what I wanted and needed for my sound, not because it "looked good" or was "trendy" and as a matter of fact I don't know anyone else who actually uses them! All I know is I got my moneys worth and its only going to help me make a whole lot more...cheers Richie "

" The vintage 30 is a great speaker for medium-high gain amplifiers. It's emphasis on the mid range frequncies compliments lead playing. It's bass response is higher and tighter than that of most other guitar speakers. The speaker 'breaks up' easily making it hard to get a completely clean sound from most amplifiers (especially with high output pickups). It is a versatile speaker that fits well into the mix when bass guitar and drums are present. "

" I used to own a midnight-blue coloured version of this guitar and was pleasantly surprised by its build quality and tonal variety. On the day of purchase, I remember being short on time and needing to quickly find a guitar that was similar in spec to an Ibanez and could be used for some teaching work - just something that I could throw around and not have to worry about too much. The Cort X-2 body is very solid, and the finish is flawless. The neck has a slim profile, with a contoured bolt-on neck-joint (typical of Ibanez RG and S guitars) and the humbuckers have plenty of power. Overall playability is quite good and it's very easy to shred with this guitar. The neck pickup has a nice fat clean tone. The bridge can get a little buzz-saw-ish, but picks up harmonics very well and sounds quite thick. Overall, the guitar held its tuning reasonably well - I've also owned a more expensive Ibanez SA model, however the tremolo on this one has better stability. Granted you still get what you pay for, but considering my objectives, the X-2 was ideal. "

" There are quite a few more expensive octave pedals out there on the market, but as far as value for money goes you can't go too far wrong with this pedal. If you can get over the fairly ordinary looking pink casing - this pedal can be alot of fun!
As far as basic features go - there are two octave settings. 'Octave One' is one octave tone below the fundamental and 'Octave Two' is (you guessed it) two below. Both can be blended into your tone simultaneously as desired - although if you start overdoing the 'Octave Two' function it can start to get too muddy.
The most suprising aspect of this pedal is that it doesn't seem to affect your tone when the device is switched off - one usually doesn't get this when dealing with cheaper pedals and its important if you are a bit of a tone freak like me. It sounds particularly killer with a bit of fuzz before it - instant Smashing Pumpkins/Sonic Youth wall of noise potential. It almost has a distorted synth characteristic to it - and i'm yet to try it, but I'm sure it would sound cool on a Casio keyboard.
You wouldn't try playing chords with this little fella - but then again, thats not really what its for. What it is good for is beefing up single note riffs and adding interesting textures to your lead licks. I've heard some people complain about the durability of the Danelectro pedals, but mine hasn't given me any trouble yet. " THE best value for money tremolo pedal on earth. Sounds fat and toneful, nails creedence songs with stunning authenticity. Sounds great with any level of distortion you dare throw at it as well. Some tremolo effects lower the output going to the amp but this adds to the guitars sound. Speed and depth controls have plenty of adjustment and be sure to experiment with the Hard/Soft switch. Sure, there are probably better sounding tremolo pedals but be prepared to pay three times as much. GET THIS PEDAL!! "

" The RP50 is a great value effects unit that would best suit project studios and home use, particularly if you haven't used many effects before. The quality of each effect (especially the reverb and harmoniser) is remarkably good for the price. On the downside, you can not finely adjust parameters for each effect (such as delay time in milliseconds, tap tempo and feedback level) so the player will need to make do with the presets, which are still quite useable. I wouldn't like to use this unit in a live situation either, for the reason that it is made of plastic and is not durable. Still for the price, one has to expect a compromise somewhere. Recommended for those newer to guitar effects in general. "

" The EMU 1212m is an awesome sounding card. The Sound quality is breath taking with its punchy basses and brillant high end - all thanks to its 120 db dynamic range and excellent AD and DA converters. It has limited inputs, but that's easily solved via the purpose-built 1820 audiodock or ADAT input. Patchmix is a software mixer that's very powerful, but hard to grapple with without some serious study of its capabilities.
Drivers are solid though I have experienced some instability issues with Cakewalk Sonar, particulary with some software synths. Overall a great card for the money. "

" This mixer has tonnes going for it and for me very little criticism. I needed a small mixer and had looked around for a while when I saw this. I wanted it straight away. I was tired of lugging big gear but this mixer was small and had all the features of huge. Learning to drive it was quite an experience and I still have to review the manuals when things don't go so well. I use this for live shows and am able to connect it to my Macbook, foh, drive monitors and record all with different mixes. A minor criticism is that it is 2 parts, tho some may prefer this feature. The second unit allows for the input and output along the front and the back. I would prefer all the ins and outs on a single well spaced panel. A cable connects the 2 units (DX Bus) and a short one is supplied. However a much longer cable is available and with this one can run it like a stage box connecting everything away from the work area. It works well as a DAW and I have used it with the programme bundled with it. I prefer to use Logic. I have written a set up procedure for doing live shows as initially I found setup to be complex, setting up Room Acoustic Control, FoH, Fx, Channel FX, monitors, etc. However should one play the same venue you are able to save all these parameters into a scene and switch to that scene upon your return. I understand that as of this date (7/2011) Edirol no longer markets them. "

" This one does it all.... and has nice software as well.... Here's my quick review (I posted elsewhere) in case anyone is considering buying this interface:
I bought UA-1G to transfer audio tapes to HDD in 16/44 format. I modify high end Hi-Fi equipment and quality maters to me. I was sceptical about the sound quality when I ordered it, but gave it a shot. There's also optical in/out to transfer mini discs as well. So, there's no doubt it is a great value for money. The software looks okay and is easy to use. I am not musician by any means and all I need the software to do for me is to record from one audio track. Sometimes I use input pan, and that’s it. Exporting is from 24/44.1 to 16/44.1. This gives good results and is quick – no re-sampling required. Note here: I extensively tested all options and various export file resolutions. 24/96 works really good with a lot of ambiance and detail. It also sounds least fatiguing! However, the low frequency definition suffers compared to 16/44.1, so at the end I settled for 16/44.1 export format and 24/44.1 capture (with advanced driver in ON position). Selecting the ASIO driver wasn’t the problem neither… I used the reset utility posted above (thanks Simon!)
Now – the sound quality….
In its original form, the sound is a bit soft for my liking. I remember having 002 audio interface (with ProTools 7.3.1) at my place for couple of weeks. This was also a bit soft for my taste… but that was before I modified it. After the mods were done, this audio interface sounded amazing… but it required major rework. The UA-1G sounded similar – soft and slightly shut-in. But still it sounded really good for the money! So, can it be improved? Definitely, but I did not want to go with external power supply. The whole package is very portable and handy, so installing an additional jack for 5V DC in and using low noise external power supply would be really cumbersome. So, the only other solution was to check what could be done with PC USB power (ouch!). Before I start, here are some details about A-to-D / D-to-A chip and DIR chip:
A-to-D and D-to-A chip is AK4556 (very high quality device designed for portable audio)
DIR is AK4114 (very capable digital audio interface device)
So, the hardware is there… but single +5V rail took its toll. There are too many signal coupling caps, but there’s no other way with +5V DC, unfortunately.
And it complies to that thingy: SCMS so it is not possible to transfer MD’s (that were recorded from original CD) digitally (optically) thru the interface to USB and HDD. This pretty much makes UA-1G optical-in useless!!! I did not know this before I bought it.
3 things I did to boost the quality:
1. I used an extra filtering cap at the “input” where the USB power is fed to the UA-1G PCB. The capacitor in question is probably the best (still) available – Black Gate 0.1uF /50V N type. I soldered it on the PCB “under-side” right across black and red wires.
2. The in-series inductor used at the “input” (as filter) is bypassed with a peace of ribbon (wire). The idea is great (to filter high frequency noise coming from the PC USB port)… but it just never works with large inductance in series with power supply rails… The above mentioned Black Gate is great at doing this job. I measured DC drop of 200mV across this choke (inductor) with UA-1G fully “loaded” – so there’s plenty of small diameter wire windings that should definitely be bypassed.
3. The crystal oscillator (6MHz) case was grounded. I used a bit of ribbon (wire) and soldered the case to ground.
The result?
Sound firmed-up and gained in definition – just what I wanted. The original tape and the exported file sounded almost identical. There was just a very tiny hint of softness still present in exported file, but I blame cheap and long-ish USB litz cable for this. The end-result was excellent.

" I used these drivers in a ML TL design by Martin King. When first installed in the cabinets, I was a little dissappointed. However after some tweaking the baffle stop correction circuit and some hours of listening they seemed to come alive.
Bass is strong and tuneful, and well balanced with the rest of the audio spectrum. Voices sound like the artist is in the room with you and they have a wide soundstage. Very well suited to Jazz/acoustic music but they will rock too. They play seriously loud for relativly little "volume" setting on my 40W solid state amp.
Ordering and delivery was prompt, efficient and problem free. "

" Gear setup:
1x12 cabinet plugged into JCM800 with a Les Paul.
This speaker is every old-or-skinny guy's dream, to lift. I've swapped this speaker into a subwoofer box (MDF) and the entire cabinet now feels no heavier in my hands than a 2-3kg carton of milk!
I do not have much experience in trying different speakers, so I cannot give you a heads up on what it sounds similar to, however when playing clean (<9 o'clock preamp) the speaker handles the thick, warm tones without getting fuzzy, and when playing on full preamp gain, the high's remain tight as well.
It all depends on your amplifier of choice on how it will respond (JCM's are quite hi-mid/trebly on high gain), but this Jensen speaker will be able to handle it all in my opinion :) "

Sounds and feels excellent for me, great percussion pads as well. Very happy now, the Axiom in the studio and the Oxygen travels with the Laptop. I am actually pleased i took the M-Audio road a while back as their gear is the most straight-forward to use in my ever expanding Studio. They might offer me a job, lol, i hope this may be of some assistance to you.. Ian

" The M-Audio Delta1010 PCI card with I/O breakout box is basically the best sound quality production unit for your money.
The only downfall are the drivers needed to run the M-Powered version of Pro-Tools. If you're running a 64 bit operating system, pro tools will not work because it is a 32 bit program.
So if you're thinking about purchasing a delta 1010 for the use of Pro-Tools, you may have to downgrade your version of windows to XP 32 / Vista 32 bit.
Other than that...... the best card on the market for less than $1000.

" This is my type of audio card, straight down the line, no bullshit, direct. I'm not looking for widgets and distractions and add ons that cheapen the main function. What I want is the audio to go in and come back out the way I hear it next to the microphone. My specialty is acoustic instruments and true reproduction values. The Delta 66 has these in a no nonsense package where everything has been directed to quality audio.
If you want gimmicks, don't bother, there's plenty of others that can deliver. If you want clarity, the Delta 66 is the one. "

Construction and finish are of a high order and the rubberized buttons are very good for fiddly angles of operation.
Multi input types, phantom power, midi and a decent PC gui make for a highly flexible package, and it does everything I could possibly want, short of setting up a commercial studio.

" I bought the Firewire Solo after my PCI audio interface was starting to show signs of age, and because a friend had apparently had good results with the USB M-Audio. It took several days to get the drivers to stick (on Win XP), then these only lasted a couple more days before the computer failed to recognise the interface anymore, and since then I've had no success in re-installing the thing. Temperamental installation (make sure McAfee's disabled!!), hopeless manual ("if it doesn't work, reinstall"!??), and no indication that you've had a bad install until you boot up and find that you're not being recognized. After two weeks, still unable to record from it. Definitely not to be recommended. "

" This keyboard is excellent, it works seamlessly with OS X and GarageBand. Just plug it in and it works. Customisation is a bit awkward with having to use the unlabelled keys for input (to reassign the sliders and wheels, for example). But that's not something that I need much so it's not a big deal.
It's a great entry level keyboard to get you rockin' out with GarageBand.

" Good value for money desktop audio solution. However there is some background hum which is audible at higher volume settings when playing quiter sounds or when the speakers are silent.
Excellent build quality and there are no complaints on the audio quality.
Background hum possibly a result of the leads "

" Really nice monitor speakers the best I have had and i'm glad i got these instead of the more common gaming variety made of plastic. Clean full sound, great build quality. Sounds great using it for music, movies and games. Some have said they are too big but I don't think they are at all, especially when you consider you don't have a seperate sub-woofer to worry about. Would recommend them and I would buy them again. "

" This is the ultimate working bass player's head unit. It is designed to be light (under 3kgs!), compact yet very versatile and powerful. I have (much to the dismay of my chiropractor!) put away my heavy old AMPEG and Trace Elliot Heads and popped this head unit in a little laptop bag with leads, pedals and strap. The second channel gives you the option of using two basses (A/B with a footswitch or use the switch on the head) OR my favourite setting centre switch which allows for a boost to your single bass setting (as long as your bass is in Input #1). This head is very powerful and on many occasion I have played a wedding with a small cab (2x10 Markbass or my Warwick Quad) then headed off to a 1000 patron nightclub and used it through a fridge (6x10 or 8x10).
It is designed to be very neutral in pre-amp tone allowing for the natural tones of your bass to sing through - great if you are active basses or even tube pre-amp pedals with a passive bass for a vintage sound.
Did I mention the power? The LMK has so much headroom that I never dial the master past 12 o'clock with low gain settings. Though I prefer a graphic eq with multiple band (my Trace AH250 had 11 band!) after some time using the VPF control and on-board bass controls I had all the tones that I needed. God bless small design at a great price from a European company. "

" Great practice amp that can also be used for quiet rehearsals. The amp has quite good tone, basically it reproduces your bass guitar tone. I didn't use headphones output yet, so I can't comment on that, but it's surprisingly loud, even though I read reviews about its loudness before I bought it. I use it on rehearsals with four brass instruments, accordion and two acoustic guitars and it's loud enough for this setup. "

It's been great, light years from a Steinway [surprised?!?] but it does the job for entering notes, u just have to get used to a firm and deliberate touch on the notes. So portable too! Dont know why more schools dont use them in computer labs; you can just fold them out of the way for other work. "

" I'm quite impressed with this little unit. It works flawlessly for me, using Mac OS X Tiger and can be powered via the FireWire bus, or an external power supply, which is also provided is case you require the small iLink connector (ie. using this device with a laptop). This product also shipped with Cubase LE and I'm quite surprised how fully featured it is. It lets me create up to 48 tracks, with full VST and VSTi support as well as 24-bit/96kHz sessions. The main software limitations, besides track count (although 48 is pretty good) are lower quality time stretch algorithms, limited number of Inserts per tracks and lack of updates/fixes.
The Firefly 302 mic preamps are clean and effective, although not spectacular, but then I can't complain at this price. I would highly recommend this product - it provides an excellent solution if you need an affordable external soundcard that also comes with decent cross-platform DAW software, for composing, audio production and basic demo recordings. " Very impressed. Cant say that I've come to mixing desks with a vast experience behind me, but this desk is pretty damn impressive!
Nice small footprint (didn't quite realise it at first) so it fit's on an already fairly crowded standard desk well.
The controls (faders and pots) are by no means cheap or nasty which was a small concern of mine considering the price, but the smaller footprint means that the solo buttons and some others are a little squeezy to get your fingers to.
HEAPS of features... the firewire connectivity is brilliant and damn easy to setup.. I had it out of the box and recording guitar in stereo and 7 channels of drums inside of 30 minutes (including software install).
Personaly - there isn't a better product on the market for the price ! (and then some)
Cheers "

" An excellent bit of gear for modest Audio needs...
the pre-amp is nice, and it was essentially plug and play. I have had no problems with the module itself apart from:
*It only monitors in summed mono while recording
*Incorrect audio hardware setups in windows xp can cause Blue screen of death (while using Adobe Audition)
*At higher gain levels pc noise can cross over to your recordings (only above 3/4 gain)
Aside from that, this is a solid bit of gear for those who don't need more than 2 mono/1 stereo inputs recording at a time. "

" This is an awesome sound card for the price. It has worlds better sound quality than headphone out on my laptop, great MIC inputs, build quality is 10/10. My only, and i mean only qualm was i was expecting the headphone output to be separate channel(s) to the mains output, so i could have used it to cue when DJing but its just duplicate channel to mains. Don't expect high volume out of the headphone output, its not a strong headphone amp. SQ is great but it is only just loud enough with my Audio-Technica ATH-AD700's. "

" Makes a big difference having this next to me when doing session work.
Some say this is only good for when your Central Station is stored away in a distant rack. I beg to differ.
I have my Central Station in easy hands reach in front of me but it's a pain to lean forward and try to find the required CS button on the front rack panel whenever I want to switch monitors or inputs or mute quickly.
It makes it way simpler having this remote right beside my mouse hand with fewer buttons than the CS itself and allowing instant switching and volume adjustment. All while not having to take my eyes away from my DAW session. "

" This is a very good overview of the Cubase environment. It does assume a reasonable familiarity with computer audio/ MIDI, and should be helpful to those with an existing audio background, be it studio recording or live production. For those who are completely new to recording and digital audio workstations, the steep learning curve will certainly be minimised through seeing this first, then experimenting. Cubase is quite a deep application, and this DVD effectively covers the foundational concepts. Highly recommended. "

" It is a real shame that this product is no longer being produced, but I believe PreSonus have produced an updated version. If it's anything like this one, it should be a corker. The Firebox is really easy to use (on a Mac anyway, not sure about Windows) and setup is really logical. It's also an attractive, compact little box. I've done a couple of live gigs in my short time with it and works a treat. "

" Great little pre amp with all the inputs I need for singing / songwriting into a mac / logic pro setup. Easy to use and such a small footprint. This thing is tough - built like a brick... Great product I can recommend for anyone trying to get vocals, guitar, keyboard etc. into a computer. The only issue is the firewire cable they supply is the older style firewire pin connection. New macs take the newer cable which I had to buy. "

" Rugged, powerful, high end quality. Much more reliable and higher recordign quality than my M-Audio Fast Track Pro. " I'm a music tutor and required a dual-channel interface for portable recording use and playback of 24-bit 96kHz audio, ideally using a FireWire bus, which I feel is better suited to audio/video. This little Presonus unit is similar in size to an Apple Mac-Mini and works a treat. Using a software interface, I was glad to find individual 48V phantom controls, a digital limit function for each channel and a selectable line/phono input. The 2 large FireWire connectors on the rear allow connectivity between multiple Inspire units as well. On the downside there are no balanced outs or physical controls on the unit itself (although this is a minor criticism in my case). Highly recommended for those looking to purchase a straightforward, reliable and portable interface for recording & playback of high-resolution audio. The Presonus website was very helpful also, with up-to-date drivers and software. Thanks to Mike for the recommendation and excellent service! "

" The Electric room couldn't have been better to deal with when buying my Presonus Studio live mixer. The Presonus studio live is a great mixer to use for recording straight out of the box, using the free capture software, no mucking around press record and your recording, no messy programs to set up before recording.
The Presonus studio live mixer comes with two free software programs, Capture and Studio one.
If you want to record and perform with a band the preamps on the mixer are excellent and wisper quiet, the digital outputs are just what you would expect from Presonus top notch.
An easy to use mixer with all these features TWO effects units on board, one for FOH and one for Monitors, talk back channel. four subs, and four Auxillaries with inserts on every channel, plus its digital outputs thru firewire for recording.
This has to be the buy of the year.
Not to mention the fat channel, the fat channel is brilliant for compressing, limiting, EQ, adding or subtracting whatever you need per channel.
So far my recordings using the Presonus studio live have come out with more depth and clarity compared to recordings using another companies digital converters.
This has to be the best looking Mixer around. Apart from its sturdy construction, solid sliders and switches, she lights up like a christmas tree.
I couldn't be happier with mine.
I record using the Presonus Studio Live into Sonar 8.5.2 and it works like a charm.
I would definately buy another one if something happened to this one.

" Works as advertised and is of great quality and transparency to your tone.
I use this to record two tube amps where using a stereo chorus pedal, for example, creates the ground loop buzz when both amps are working together. I’d used the BigShot ABY but it’s passive, the TwinCity being active keeps the volume of the guitar high into both amps, helping keep the same tone and amount of gain from the amps. Setup chain is: Guitar -> TwinCity -> straight into both amps,.. easy!
I haven’t used or needed the drag control. A must for studio dual amp studio application.
Thanks to Electric room for super fast delivery! "

" Absolutely outstanding. This replaced my M-Audio FastTrack Pro, which wasn't bad, but occasionally generated digital noise and had to be reset, and had some issues with mains hum that required me to ground lift my laptop. I went for this rather than a cheaper interface and a preamp and am very impressed. The Mixer interface is excellent and is midi controllable. This means that I can set different mixes for phones monitoring with or without mic monitoring, as well as monitors with or without sub bass, and have it all controlled with a press of a button on my Behringer BCR2000. This also does away with the need for a monitor mixer (I was going to get a Mackie Big Knob but now no longer need to as al the monitor switching is on board). Sound quality is as you would expect, with previous mixes and audio tracks jumping out with clarity and detail. At this stage I cannot fault the device and as it has replaced a preamp, interface and monitor mixer I can justify the additional expense. You won't be disappointed. Just make sure you do not run this with an old slow system. Check the RME site for minimum processing & RAM requirements. "

" I bought this having read the product info on the Rode website and other internet reviews. I have a Rode NT-2A which is great but I wanted to capture the sounds from my Martin Guitar in stereo. Faced with the option of either getting a second NT-2A for a pair and then dealing with issues such as phasing or mismatch, or getting the NT4, I went with the latter. Sounds are crisp and real with great presence and the mic can be positioned to capture the balance of tones without the boom. Try rotating it one way or the other to adjust the balance. Processing wise I then use some light compression with Vintage Warmer and then widen the stereo image with the Cubase plugin for a great sound. Have not been diasppointed. "

" I rated this mic 4 out of 5 because I know there are better microphones out there. It is however, a brilliant piece of equipment, especially considering the price point.
Pros:
- Very flat frequency resonse, only a slight rise around 10Khz, which makes for slight breathy vocals, and a very crisp sound.
- Weather Resistant - used this for the first time on a dewy night with temps below 12 degrees with no adverse effects - a Schoeps or Sanken would have packed it in way earlier.
- Storage Tube is bullet proof (well, not that I've actually shot it, but...)
- 10(!) year warranty.
- No handling noise, even when whipping back and forth on a boom between two sources.
- Wider sweet spot than most shotguns, but excellent side rejection.
Cons:
- No Low Cut filter (but this can usually be employed on your mixer/recording device or in post)
- Although it is marketed as highly sensitive, I find it does not have a huge "reach". The best position is still right in close. But when you get it right, this mic really shines.
- Instruction manual in box is poor - for a full one hit up the RODE website.
Sounds like (no, better than) a Sennheiser MKH416, but less than half the price! "

" Hi Rode,
I am a professional musician, saxophonist and studio owner located in Helsinki, Finland.
I have been waiting for a good sounding affordable dynamic large-capsule microphone.
Now i have found it. Rode Procaster. I made this review to help other saxophonists and people in the business
find the Procaster which is a great sax mic for live and studio work.
Rode Procaster
I was very exited when i noticed that Rode had released a new large-capsule dynamic mic at a very attractive price.
Not much more expensive than a SM58. I checked the frequency curve and noticed that it is relatively flat with a small rise
between 2 - 10 kHz. I was looking for a mic to record saxophone, mostly tenor. Modern sounding pop and rock tenor
saxophone needs to be recorded with a mic that is not too bright like most dynamic mics are. I have used ribbon mics often
in studio but they lack some punch that can be found in dynamic mics.
I bought the mic from a local music store and brought it to my studio. I made some test recordings and was happy to
notice that the mic was very natural sounding. In modern digital environment too many mics sound harsh but not this.
It still has a nice open and fresh character, the low end sounded natural too. I compared it to EV RE-20 and Sennheiser
MD421. Procaster was more open and natural than Re-20. MD421 sounded thin and harsh. I made some mp3 clips were
you can hear the results. They were recorded with Motu 828 mic pre. No effects or equalization was used. Gain settings
and mic positions are identical.
I am sure that this mic will be a success and it will sound good in many applications. As a sax mic this is one of the best i
have ever tried. "

" A great product. So sturdy for what it cost. Warning: it is molded to fit specifically these microphones and there peripherals. Nothing else. It is hard plastic and if it doesn't fit like a glove it'll rattle around. Works great for my ntk gear though. "

" The Roland Cube 80X is a well-built amp and could certainly be used for gigging and rehearsals. This particular model also has an on-board looper which is a great tool for songwriting or just playing a short progression and improvising over. Sometimes it's a little frustrating that there is only a 40 second loop time however. I think the clean channel on the Cube is quite reasonable and the brightness switch comes in handy when using the neck humbucker on my guitar. The distorted channel sounds best for me on Classic Stack, but the other presets like Metal are great for achieving good sustain, even at low volumes. The delay is more configurable than on the Cube 60, and the digital reverb is good. Overall, this is a very versatile amp for the price, and I would recommend it to just about anyone. "

" This amplifier is highly functional for professional use. I use it as part of a DJ collective, so each DJ can cue/monitor a different channel, on their own pair headphones, simultaneously. The inputs are selectable, so we can all listen to the same channel at once if we wish.
My only criticism of the product is its requirement that the stereo inputs be a left AND right 6.3mm TRS connection. If you're using adapter cables from, say, RCA to TRS, cables with two RCA connectors to two TRS connectors are much harder to come by (and much more expensive) than cables with two RCA to ONE TRS. If you're using the latter type of cable, you can connect it to the left channel of any input and you will get mono sound in both channels. It's a full mono signal, but it's still mono.
A single, stereo signal TRS input, with a switch to toggle between mono and stereo, would be much better in this regard.
Otherwise, this is an excellent, sturdy product that will be very useful in any professional setup. Its sound is not strictly high fidelity, but it is certainly revealing enough for multichannel monitoring applications. "

" The CS-5 is an exceptionally versatile microphone. I now have four and find they can be used successfully in almost any application using the combination of patterns, pads and high/low cut filters available. It is a really outstanding vocal mic that normally requires no EQ other than the internal 15K low pass. The best way to describe the colour is accurate with a great sense of presence and "air". They also perform well in almost any instrumental role and do a superb job in choral or orchestral work.
The only thing I've found they are not good at is making a truly horrible acoustic guitar or unlistenable singer tolerable, for that you will still need the usual plugins and tools or something from the seismograph EQ section of your dynamic mic relic selection. The CS-5 is competitive with microphones that cost four to eight times it's price. Physically they are very robust solid plated brass and sufficiently heavy and substantial to make use of a good mic stand essential. They are built internally to a standard that looks like a $5000 dollar product (3 screws, have a look). The included shock mounts are a pleasure in use allowing easy rotation through 360 degrees with the mic solidly locked in when upside down. While effective foam windshields are supplied for those "special" artists I prefer to use the optional aluminium mesh pop filters which leave the top end unaffected.
If I could only choose one type of mic (not hand held) without knowing the job it would have to be the CS-5. Even emulating an old two way radio mic for a dirty drum track is easy using the maximum built in high and low cut. While there are individual microphones that work better for some tasks, they cost far more and are usually less versatile. These are a very evolved and polished product that have been built to last. If they had a different badge on people would be happily describing them as "Modern Classics" and boasting about having bought a matched pair for the price of a small car. Don't "look them over" or "include them in your considerations" At this price just buy some and have the pleasure of using them. "

" This is a quality little box for sure. Without being set up properly yet with all the test gear needed, I can't run any objective tests, but a quick subjective listen with ribbons shows the noise level to be very low for sure. …..The counter-RFI measures included by Symetrix as well as the many other refinements in the circuit are a joy to behold. The implementation in the h/ware is likewise top quality…

" Having bought one of these units a couple of months ago, I'm really impressed with its ease of operation, but most of all, sound quality. After connecting it up for the first time, I did an A/B test with this and my existing Presonus Inspire box. Playing back a 24-bit WAVE file on Windows Media Player, the TC Unit had a surprisingly more rounded bass response, while the top end sounded open and not quite as brittle. The stereo imaging is also better focussed. I figure what TC have said about their Jet PLL clocking technology certainly has merit, as the difference is quite noticeable.
Recording works fine and I had no issues using this unit with the supplied Cubase 4 LE software. The main thing to be aware of is that the konnekt units appear to run best under a Texas Instruments FireWire chipset. I've used this with a generic chipset on a PCMCIA FireWire card and ran into issues with the control panel software not opening. However, when connecting to my Mac Mini (which has a Lucent chipset) it works fine. That said, the TC forums always recommend Texas Instruments as the one to go for (particularly if running this under Windows at present). All in all, very happy with my purchase. "

" These are very good sounding headphones. Plenty of bass and it's tight and punchy with just the right amount of slam. I feel they are missing a little impact in the sub bass frequency but then again most headphones lack in that area. The bass doesn't seem to interfere with the midrange at all - which is smooth but not recessed. The high frequency is well extended with good retail but never harsh or piercing. Overall the sound is quite balanced with a slight emphasis on the bass. I find it well suited to pop, hip hop and electronica music. "
